Description: 

The purpose of this undertaking is to complete the requisite fieldwork, laboratory tests and reporting for a geotechnical investigation and a hydrogeological investigation. The investigations will yield design recommendations related to site-specific geotechnical and hydrogeological considerations to assist in the design and subsequent construction phases of the proposed Welland WTP Phase 2 Upgrades. Phase 2 upgrades are in preliminary design and include the construction and integration of the following key project components:

  • New raw water intake structure and associated conduit to other building structures;
  • New low lift pump station (LLPS);
  • New chemical storage facility;
  • New pre-treatment system;
  • New filtration system;
  • New building superstructure to accommodate the treatment train from the new intake
         through to the filter clearwell;
  • Upgrades to the existing UV/HLPS/Reservoir;
  • New parking areas;
  • Site grading; and,
  • Utility relocates.
